Escaping Violence Payment
Cairns-based trial
(Cairns Region including Atherton Tablelands, Cassowary Coast, Cape York & Torres Strait Islands)
The Escaping Violence Payment offers support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have experienced Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) to have access to financial support and goods / services for their immediate needs to live safely.
Support includes:
- Financial assistance up to $1,500 in cash or vouchers
- Up to $3,500 in goods and services
(Eg. removalists, bond, items for a new home) - Confidential support and referrals up to 12 weeks.
Am I eligible?
✔ You are over the age of 18, living in Australia.
✔ You are an Australian citizen, permanent resident or holder of a protected special category visa.
✔ You have changed your living arrangements within the last 12 weeks, or have a safe plan to leave, due to intimate partner violence.
✔ You are experiencing financial stress.
✔ You have not accessed an EVP in the past 12 months.

To start a support service application:
A support service application form has been developed to help with quicker access to EVP for individuals who are already working with a support service.
The worker submits this application (with client consent) and will be contacted by the EVP Team to progress the application.
